Keystone-Loening Commuter
The Keystone-Loening K-84 "Commuter" was a single-engine flying boat. First produced in 1926.
This airplane was featured as a model/bank by Texaco, #8 in a series "Wings of Texaco" of historic aircraft used by the company.
It is similar in configuration to the Sikorsky S-39; the Keystone-Loening is a biplane, while the Sikorsky is a monoplane; the twin-engine Sikorsky S-38 is also similar but with a smaller lower wing. The Keystone-Loening wing also had a small dihedral, while the Sikorsky wings were flat.
Keystone-Loening K-84, NC-63K c/n 305, "Kruzof" presently resides at Greg Herrick's Golden Wings Flying Museum in Minneapolis, Minneota. Wing components are under restoration with the aircraft fuselage to follow.
